Mrs. Arden Gray

Mrs. Gertrude Faye Gray, 51, a lifelong resident of Bonaparte, died Sunday, April 13, at 1:25 a.m. in Van Buren County Memorial hospital, Keosauqua, after a lengthy illness.

She was born Dec. 2, 1917 at Bonaparte, the daughter of Noah B. and Daisy Bell Thompson House.

Her marriage to Arden Gray took place June 27, 1942 at Kahoka, Mo. He survives.

Mrs. Gray was a member of the Methodist church. She was a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan college, Mt. Pleasant. She was a school teacher in the elementary grades and was a member of the teachers' organization. She was a past president of the Bonaparte Alumni Association.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Tasos (Lana) Anthony of Kirksville, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Callen and Kendall, and a brother, Clinton.

The funeral service was held Tuesday, April 14, at 2:30 p.m. in the Methodist church at Bonaparte with the Rev. Harold Schirm officiating. Burial was in Bonaparte cemetery. Until time of service, the body was at the Carl Wilson Reposing Home, Bonaparte, Miller's Home for Funerals in Farmington was in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund was established.
