Mrs. John Smith

Mrs. Latha B. Smith, 77, of Donnellson died Thursday, march 27 at 3:20 p.m. in the Metz Nursing Home, Donnellson, after a lengthy illness.

She was born June 7, 1891 at Victoria, Ill., the daughter of Clarence and Isabell Hodgeman Hammond.

She married John Smith Aug. 22, 1911 at Taulon, Ill. and he survives.

They lived on a farm near West Point until 1950 when they moved to Donnellson.

She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ at Franklin and was a member of the Women's Guild of the church; the American Legion, and the American War Dads Auxiliary.

Surviving besides her husband are three sons, Donald Smith of Bonaparte, Clarence Smith of Donnellson and Wayne Smith of West Point; nieces and nephews; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Carl; one daughter, Lucille; one grandchild; one brother, and two sisters.

The funeral service was held Sunday, March 30, at 2 p.m. in St. Peter's United Church of Christ. Franklin, with the Rev. Victor Englemann officiating. Burial was in the Williamson cemetery at West Point.

Miller's Home for Funerals at Donnellson was in charge of arrangements.
