Dorothy D. Rambo

Miss Dorothy D. Rambo, 69, of 1204 Richmond, Ottumwa, a retired Iowa Southern Utilities Co., employee, died at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at Ottumwa Hospital. She had been in failing health for the past month.

The daughter of James W. and Lucetta Rambo, she was born in Keosauqua on July 14, 1899.

Miss Rambo worked for Iowa Southern for 43 years before retiring in July of 1961. She had since been employed as a housemother at Ames for five years and was housemother at Ottumwa Heights College the first semester of this year.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and sang in the Church choir for more than 40 years. She was also a member of Eastern Star Chapter No. 112 and worthy past matron; member of Wapello White Shrine No. 4; and past president of PEO Chapter G and of Soroptimist.

She is survives by a niece, Mrs. Milford Johnston of Lake City, Ia. Mrs. L.H. Prewitt and Nellie C. Wainscott of Ottumwa are cousins.

Funeral services were Saturday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stanley Woeste officiating. Burial was in Ottumwa Cemetery. Jay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial fund has been established payable to First United Methodist Church.
