Volney O. Wright

Volney O. Wright, 88, died Monday night at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua, where he had been a patient 5 days.

Born March 23, 1880, in Youngs Creek, Ind., he was the son of Reed E. and Sara Hammond Wright. He married Adella Waybright, June 3, 1903, at Lexington, Ill. She died Jan. 31, 1955.

Survivors include one son, Eldon V. of Stockport; one daughter, Velda Shmidl of Tempe, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Wright was a member of the Christian Church at Colfax, Ill., Workman Masonic Lodge 634 at Stockport, and McChord Chapter 5 and Gethsemane Commandery, both of Fairfield.

The funeral will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Stockport Christian Church with the Rev. Chester Werft officiating. Graveside services will be conducted by the Stockport Masonic Lodge at Spencer Cemetery. The body is at Burch Funeral Home in Birmingham.
