George W. Barber

George W. Barber, 61, resident of Salem for the past 12 years and a former resident of Fairfield, died about noon Friday, Feb. 14, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Last rites were Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Chapel in Salem with the Rev. Granville LaForge in charge. Burial was in the Salem Cemetery.

Masonic services were conducted at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Beatty Chapel, Salem.

George W. Barber was born April 27, 1907, at Drakesville, the son of William and Alena Easton Barber. He was married Aug. 11, 1932, to Ina Stodgill.

He was a guard at the Iowa Ordnance Plant at Burlington and a member of the Salem Masonic Lodge.

Barber is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
