Oliver E. Munford Jr.

Oliver E. Munford Jr., 44, of Farmington, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 8:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart hospital, Fort Madison, where he had been a patient two weeks.

He was born April 19, 1924 at Fort Madison, the son of Oliver T. Munford Sr. and Iva Dodson Munford.

His marriage to Avis Graham took place Aug. 24, 1943 at Kahoka, Mo. She survives.

He spent most of his life in Farmington. Mr. Munford was employed by the Santa Fe R.R. for 20 years. He was a member of the United Methodist church and the Brotherhood of Carmen. He served in the South Pacific during W.W. 2 with the Navy.

Besides his widow, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Iva Munford of Farmington; two sons, Airman First Class Jon Michael Munford, stationed in Germany, Richard at home; and a daughter-in-law, Margaret; two brothers, James of Fort Madison and Terry of Farmington; three sisters, Mrs. Leland Baum, Mrs. Lowell Drummond both of Farmington, and Mrs. Lawrence Keller of Rogers, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his father on Feb. 18, 1960, and one sister.

The body is at Miller's Home for Funerals in Farmington where arrangements are pending the arrival of his son from Germany.

Munford Services

The funeral service for Oliver E. Munford Jr., 44, of Farmington, was held Saturday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m., in the United Methodist church, with the Rev. Harold Schirm officiating. Burial was in Greenglade cemetery.
