Mrs. Grace Kinsey

Mrs. Grace Kinsey died Wednesday, Jan. 1, at 5 a.m. at the Evergreen Nursing Home, Montrose, Colorado, where she had been a resident for about a year. Previously, she had made her home with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Orpha Kinsey.

Grace E. Akey was born July 18, 184, at Keosauqua, Iowa, and received her education in the schools there. On Feb. 9, 1904, she was married at Keosauqua, to M.F. Kinsey, who died in 1955. The couple moved to Colorado 34 years ago, lived at Grand Junction from 1940 to 1945 and in Alamosa for 3 years before locating at Montrose.

Mrs. Kinsey taught school prior to her marriage. A licensed mortician, she was associated with her husband in operation of the Montrose Funeral Home.

Surviving are one grandson, Dwain Kinsey, Montrose, two great grandchildren, Kent and Brenda Kinsey, and a number of nephews and nieces, including Mrs. Clyde Ficklin, Grand Junction, and Mrs. Howard Wilson, Montrose. She was the last of the nine children of Edward and Angnora (Downing) Akey. Her two sons preceded her in death. Glen at the age of five and Keith in February, 1961.

Mrs. Kinsey was a member of the First Methodist Church in Montrose. A member of the Order of Eastern Star for 44 years, she was affiliated with Silver Star Chapter No. 40.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Eugene D. Worth of the First Methodist Church Saturday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. from the Montrose Funeral Home's Chapel of the Roses. Interment was in Grand View Cemetery.
