James Hayes Wilson

James Hayes Wilson, son of John J. and Mary Elizabeth Brownlee Wilson was born Feb. 5, 1895 at Delevan, Ill., and passed away Nov. 28, 1968 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa at the age of 73 years, nine months and 23 days.

At the age of 8 years he came with his parents to live in Keosauqua. He was among the very first from Van Buren County to join the United States Army in World War I when he enlisted Sept. 4, 1917. His discharge was Feb. 8, 1919.

Mr. Wilson was united in marriage to Eva Pearl Mariott of the Vernon community on Nov. 5, 1923. To this union was born one son, Donald.

Mr. Wilson was an employee of Van Buren County and for many years he was a demonstrator for the J.D. Adams Company. They have made their home in Fairfield for the past 16 yeaers(err).

He was a member of the Keosauqua Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife Eva; his son, Donald of West Liberty, Iowa; two grandsons and one granddaughter of West Liberty; and two sisters, Mrs. Clark Rigsby of Keosauqua, Iowa and Mrs. F.L. Pickard of Lexington, Ky. he was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held at the Catcott Funeral Home in Keosauqua at 2 P.M., Sunday, Dec. 1 with the Rev. Howard McPeak officiating. Burial was in Fellows Cemetery.
