RAYMOND P. BUTLER

The son of a former Methodist minister who served the Methodist Church at Farmington in the early 30's died suddenly in Ottumwa.

Raymond P. (Ray) Butler, 59, of Ottumwa was dead on arrival at Ottumwa Hospital Saturday about 3 p.m. following an apparent heart attack suffered at his home.

He had a real estate office in Ottumwa.

He was the son of Harvey E. and Daisy Wilson Butler, born in Donnellson Dec. 16, 1908. He was a graduate of the Cincinnati High School and attended Parsons College. He had been a resident of Ottumwa since 1934. A member of the Methodist Church, he was a member and the organist for the Ottumwa Elks Lodge, a member of the Eagles Lodge, the Kiwanis Club, past president of the South Ottumwa Boosters, the National Association of Real Estate Board, the Ottumwa Real Estate Board, and had been active in Boy Scout work. He was also past president of the Ottumwa Credit Bureau.

He married Hazel M. Grove on Dec. 23, 1930, in Kirksville, Mo., and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Richard Butler of Santa Fe, N.M.; one daughter, Mrs. Linda L. Workman of Ottumwa; three grandchildren; and his mother, Mrs. Daisy Butler of Ottumwa, three grandchildren; and his mother, Mrs. Daisy Butler of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers and one sister.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 1:30 p.m., at Johnson Funeral Chapel, Ottumwa, with the Rev. David Ash of Willard Street Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery there.
