Mrs. Harlan Beggs

Mrs. Grace Beggs, 79, who was one of the founders of the Birmingham Public library 42 years ago and who had served continuously on the board ever since, died Sunday, Dec. 8 in Van Buren County hospital, Keosauqua.

She was born Sept. 15, 1889, at Kilbourn, the daughter of Arthur W. and Irona Hootman Porter. She was married at Kilbourn, to Harlan D. Beggs on Nov. 30, 1910. He and several cousins survive. A sister died previously.

Mrs. Beggs was a member of the Presbyterian Women's society.

Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Burch Funeral Home with the Rev. Millard Marshall officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill cemetery.
