Jamie W. Parsons

Jamie Warren Parsons, son of Miller and Elizabeth Rambo Parsons, was born January 1, 1885, near Douds and departed this life Tuesday, Nov. 12, 1968, at his home at the age of 83. His entire life was spent in the Douds-Selma community and he had lived on his present farm for 60 years.

On April 7, 1904, he was married to Eva Hanshaw. She remains to mourn his passing along with their son, Donald and daughter-in-law, Freda of Douds, 3 grandchildren, Mrs. Judy Fellows of Edwards, California, Mrs. Janice Johnston of Libertyville and Donnie Parsons of Douds, 4 great-grandchildren, Cindy, Pam and Anita Fellows and Brent Johnston.

Also surviving are 4 brothers, Leslie and Andrew of Los Angeles, Calif., Jay of Gladbrook and Mark of Selma, and 4 sisters, Mrs. Ethel Smith and Mrs. Eleanor Fickel of Fairfield, Mrs. Etha Gay of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Mrs. Edna Reams of Los Angeles, Calif., other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Will Parsons.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 14, 1968, at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Everett Day, pastor of the Bethel Free Methodist Church officiating. Vocalists were Mrs. Keith A. Smith and Mrs. Robert Pedrick, accompanied by Mrs. Max Caves. Pall bearers were Roscoe Haney, Joshua Reneker, Merle Bird, Wesley Greene, William Barker, and Ellis Barker. Interment was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds.
