GUY JOHN McVEY

Guy John McVey, age 85, died Sunday morning, Oct. 2 at a hospital in Mt. Pleasant. He had been in ill health for three years and critically ill the past two months.

He was born July 30, 1881 at Salem, Ia., the son of Marion McVey and Charity Scarborough McVey. He was married in Keosauqua on Dec. 5, 1905 to Mabel Jameson who preceded him in death on Sept. 17, 1958.

He had lived at Fort Madison 60 years where he was a painter and paper hanger, prior to the last five years when he resided at the Millspaugh Nursing Home.

He was preceded in death in addition to his wife by a son, a daughter, one sister and one brother.

Survivors include three sons, Ivan of West Point, Ia., Dexter of Ft. Madison, Ralph of West Yellowstone, Mont.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. John Overton and one brother, Forest McVey, both of Salem.

Funeral services were held at Ft. Madison Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Fred Rowley, Pastor of the Santa Fe Methodist Church, in charge. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
