MRS. OPAL COWEN

Mrs. Opal M. Cowen, 61, Birmingham, died Monday, July 4 at 8:05 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital after a serious illness of two weeks.

Services were held Wednesday, July 6 at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. D.O. Van Dyne. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Cowen was born Nov. 21, 1904 in Putnam County, Mo., the daughter of Joe and Hettie Adams Conger. She was reared and educated in the Ollie and Packwood communities. She was married to Roy Cowen Nov. 21, 1923. He preceded her in death in 1964.

Mrs. Cowen was a member of the Christian Chruch. She is survived by one son, Roy Cowen Jr. of Birmingham; two sisters, Mrs. Leona Hultsch of Lockridge and Mrs. Virginia Roop of Ollie, and one breother, Paul Conger, Rock Island, Ill.

One sister is deceased.
