JAY L. HASSLER

Jay L. Hassler, 78, of Farmington died Friday, July 8, at 8 p.m. in St. Joseph Hospital, Keokuk, after an illness of 7 weeks.

He was born Sept. 20, 1887 in Farmington, the son of John and Maggie Alfrey Hassler. He was a lifelong resident of Farmington and formerly operated the Budlong Pickle Factory in Farmington. He also worked as a foreman of the Harp Thero Produce Company in Farmington for 16 years.

He was a member of the Baptist church in Farmington and the Modern Woodmen.

He married Lillian Gray in Farmington on Sept. 6, 1911. He is survived by his wife and a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Mildred) Paisley of Inglewood, Calif. and a son Harold Hassler of Farmington and two grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents, two half brothers and a half sister.

The funeral service was held Tuesday, July 12 at 2 p.m. in the Baptist church, Farmington, with the Rev. Ronald Hutchings officiating. Burial was in Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington.

Miller's Home for Funerals in Farmington was in charge of arrangements.
