George Luke

Last rites for George Luke, 57, were held Wednesday, May 4 at 1 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, with the Rev. G. Basil Tadlock officiating. Burial was in Troy Cemetery.

Luke died Monday morning, May 2 at his farm home southwest of Douds after an illness of several months.

He was born Feb. 19, 1909 near Johnstown, Neb., the son of William and Ida Groves Luke. As a youth, he moved with his family to Chequest Township in Van Buren County where he had resisded since. He was married Mar. 30, 1928.

Surviving are his widow and three children, Mrs. Evelyn Schindler of Pulaski, Mrs. Marilyn Schindler and Wayne Luke of Agency. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, two brothers and five sisters. One brother, Ed Luke, recently came to Douds from Alliance, Neb., to help care for Mr. Luke. One brother preceded him in death.
