Funeral Services Held For Bruce R. Vale

Funeral services for Bruce R. Vale, 78, Hillsboro, who died suddenly at his home Wednesday morning, May 11, 1966, were held at the Hillsboro Baptist church, Friday, May 13, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Diercks, pastor of the church officiating.

Music was provided by Mrs. Gordon Watts, organist and Mrs. Forrest Fuhrer, soloist.

Bearers were Burch Boley, Byron Church, John Dodds, L.T. Harlan, Bennie Huff, Kenneth Mosher, Donald Smith and Robert Tade.

Interment was in the Vale Cemetery, with Beatty Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Emma, and a niece, Vale Winslow of Bonaparte, and a nephew, Rex Roberts of Groton, Mass.

He was born, March 30, 1888, the son of Benjamin and Julia Biddle Vale at Bonaparte where he attended school graduating in 1907. He was a 1913 graduate of Iowa State, Ames, Iowa in Animal Husbandry. On August 20, 1914 he was married to Emma Nicholson at Williams, Iowa.

His entire life was devoted on farming in the Harrisburg community until 1958 when he moved to Hillsboro. His retirement years were spent on research in Southeastern Iowa History and working on his farms.

He was a member of the Bonaparte Presbyterian Church and the Belmont Lodge of Hillsboro.

His parents and three sisters predeceased him.
