HAROLD WILEY

Harold Wiley, son of George and Mary Miller Wiley, was born September 19, 1905, at Douds and departed this life Monday, June 13, 1966, at the Veteran's Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 60.

He spent his entire live in the Douds community except for four years during World War II, when he served with the Navy Sea Bees in the Pacific Theater.

He was a graduated from Douds High School with the class of 1923. For many years he was employed as a truck driver for Douds Quarries, Inc., and for several years was a security guard at the Philco plant in Fairfield.

He was married to Frances Yarnell who preceded him in death in 1953. A brother, Emmett, also preceded him in death.

Remaining to morn his passing are a brother, Clarence Wiley of Douds and two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Parks of Ottumwa and Mrs. Hazel Harward of Cantril. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Mr. Wiley was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at Creston. He will be remembered as a good and kindly man who spent much of his life doing good for others.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 17, 1966, at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Herbert Phillips, Methodist pastor of Milton officiating. Vocalists were Mrs. Keith A. Smith and Mrs. Robert Pedrick, accompanied by Miss Margi Pollock. Bearers were Berdott Grubbs, Gary Grubbs, Van Byers, Daniel Greenfield, Lawrence Northrup, and Harlan Heckart. Interment was in the Leando Cemetery.
