LESLIE CLYDE RANKIN

Funeral services for Leslie Clyde Rankin, 86, were held at the Catcott Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Monday, with the Rev. Aldreth V. Weigel officiating. Burial was in the Thompson Cemetery near Bonaparte.

Mr. Rankin died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Van Buren hospital where he had been a patient for several weeks.

The son of Samuel and Sarah Ball Rankin, he was born Oct. 2, 1879 at Belmont, Ohio. His marriage to Sarah House took place Oct. 19, 1904 at Bonaparte. He farmed between Bonaparte and Mt. Sterling and had lived 61 years there.

He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Max Messer of Farmington; two grandchildren Marvin of Farmington and Betty Thronsen of Galena, Alaska; a great grandson, Don Thronsen. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Ed, and by a grandson, Kenneth Wayne Messer.
