KATHERINE MAE MITCHELL

Katherine Mae Mitchell was born May 31, 1896 in Vernon, Ia., to Thomas J. and Mary A. Pace Wolfe. She was married in Keosauqua, Iowa, in 1915 to John P. Mitchell, Sr. and they were the parents of nine children.

With the exception of the past 20 years in Peoria, Ill., she spent her life in and near Bonaparte, Iowa.

She passed away quietly at 8:55 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 1966, after a long illness.

Katherine leaves to mourn her passing seven sons: Howard D. of Bowers Hill, Va., William T. of Lodi, Calif., John Jr. of East Peoria, Ill., George V. of Peoria, Ill., Benjamin K. of Denver, Colo., Joseph B. of Pomona, Calif and John F. Mitchell of East St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Mary) Webb of Stockton, Calif. and Mrs. Joseph (Lulu) Von More of West Covina, Calif.; one grandson, William R. Mitchell of Berkley, Calif., whom she reared; also one brother, Darrell Wolf of Donnellson, Iowa; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A sister and two brothers preceded her in death.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Feb. 1, at the Frank Endsley and Son Funeral Home, 1125 Main St., with the Rev. Scott Huson. She was laid to rest in the Green Glade Cemetery at Farmington.
