Ira L. Glattfelder

Ira L. Glattfelder, 65, died early Sunday, March 6 at his home in Douds. He had heart trouble several years.

The son of Jacob and Flora Dively Glattfelder, he was born June 6, 1900, in Davis County, where he spent his youth. He had resided in Douds since 1948.

Previously he lived a short period in California and for several years in the Lebanon community.

He farmed a number of years, worked in local coal mines, and custodian and bus driver at the Douds school prior to retiring.

Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Ruth Mandel of Boyes Hot Springs, Calif.; four sons, Francis of Ottumwa, Robert with the Navy in San Diego, Calif., Richard with the Air Force in Turkey and Gary, at home; several grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Long of Des Moines; and three brothers, Milo of Floris, Chester of Ottumwa and Frank of Burlington.

He attended the Douds Bible Baptist Church.

The service is pending arrival of the son, Richard, from Turkey.

The body is at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds.
