OBITUARIES

MAGGIE W. SHEROD

Maggie W. Sherod, the daughter of Samuel and Julia Burrow Taylor was born in Kilbourne, Ia. on January 5, 1871, and passed away April 19, 1965 at her home near Mt. Zion at the age of 94 years, 3 months and 14 days. She was the last surviving member of a family of eight.

She was united with the Mt. Zion Presbyterian church in 1877 and was a member of the Mt. Zion Ladies Aid through the years.

She was united in marriage to Boardman Sherod on December 29, 1892.

Survivors include a daughter, Blanche Murphy, with whom she made her home; Margaret Price of Tulare, Calif.; a granddaughter, Barbara Gillespie and two great-grandchildren, Kevin and Jane Ann Gillespie of Hanford, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two daughters, one in infancy and Grace Sherod in 1942. Also two sons-in-law, Ralph Price and Earle N. Murphy preceded her in death.

Many nieces, nephews and friends will miss Aunt Maggie.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 22, 1965 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Presbyterian church, in charge of Rev. Wayne Lowry. Burial was in Miller Chapel.
