OBITUARIES

W.S. LANE

W.S. (Doc) Lane, 94, of Bonaparte, died Friday, May 20, at 4 a.m. in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, where he had been a patient since March 12.

He was the owner and operator of the drugstore in Bonaparte for about 50 years and had a watch and clock repair service in the store.

He was born Feb. 18, 1872, at Carthage, Ill., the son of I.J. and Mary Jane Jones Lane. He spent his childhood in Illinois moving to Bonaparte in 1905.

On June 27, 1906 at Carthage, Ill. he married Lulu A. Main, who survives.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, a 50 year member of the Bonaparte Masonic Lodge and a member of Lafayette Chapter No. 61, Royal Arch Masons. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Brooks) McGlothlen of Stockport and Mrs. Kenneth (Mary) Warner of Bonaparte; one grandson, Charles Warner, and two great-grandchildren.

He was the last of his family, preceded by his parents, one brother, two sisters and one daughter, Grace.

The funeral service was held Sunday, May 22, at 1:30 p.m. in the Bonaparte Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Leroy Moore officiating. Burial was in Moss Ridge Cemetery at Carthage, Ill.

Miller's Home for Funerals in Farmington was in charge of arrangments.
