MRS. THOMAS PEDEN, 80, died about 4 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at her home in Ottumwa.

She was a retired clerk in ladies ready-to-wear shops.

Mrs. Peden was the daughter of Robert and Mary Elizabeth Olney and was born in Dudley, Ia., on April 8, 1884. She had resided in Wapello County for 50 years. She was first married to Henry John Schwartz, who died in 1920. She later married Thomas Pedel(Peden) of Keosauqua who survives.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and of the Alter and Rosary Society.

In addition to Mr. Peden, survivers include three daughters; Mrs. Pauline Brothers of Keosauqua, Mrs. Betty Kurka of Billings, Mont., and Mrs. Maxine Ryan of Ottumwa; a son Edward Peden of Houston, Tex., several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 8:30 a.m. at the Traul Funeral home and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic church in Ottumwa.

The Rt. Rev. Msgr. W.E. Cullinan, pastor will officiate at the Requiem High Mass.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
