Ottumwa, Iowa, Thursday, August 11, 1977

HELEN MORRIS

KEOSAUQUA - Mrs. Helen L. Morris, 54, of rural Keosauqua, died early today at her home. She was pronounced dead on arrival at 5:30 a.m. at Van Buren County Hospital.

She was born Feb. 28, 1923, at Vernon to Fred and Fay Heminger Hackard. She graduated from Bonaparte High School in 1941, attended Parsons College, Fairfield, and taught school in Van Buren County for many years.

She attended Center Chapel United Methodist Church, and was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Women and the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliaries.

On Sept. 18, 1948, she married Donald Morris at Keosauqua. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Donna Oilar of Kahoka, Mo.; one son, Stephen at home; her mother, of Bentonsport; two grandsons; three sisters, Vivian Martin of Bonaparte and Freda Cox and Eliaine Cole, both of Bentonsport; and one brother, Frank Hackard of Bentonsport.

The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Center Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Cornish officiating. Burial will be in Harness Cemetery at Mount Sterling.

The body is at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
