EARL McDaniel
Earl McDaniel, 59, of Ottumwa Route 1 died at his home Tuesday at approximately 8:15 a.m. The death was apparently due to a self-inflicted .22-cal gunshot wound, according to the Wapello County Medical Examiner.
He was a former employe of John Morrell and Co.
He was born Nov. 29, 1917, at Keosauqua to Roy and Hattie Gipson McDaniel and had lived in the Ottumwa area most of his life. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth and Charles, both of Ottumwa; three grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Hattie Boyd of Ottumwa; two brothers, Bert of Eldon and Ray of Ottumwa; and one sister, Florence Rowell of Ottumwa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Chapel, the Rev. James Dendler of Willard Street United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
