Ottumwa, Iowa, Tuesday, May 24, 1977

JAMES M. EASTER

BONAPARTE - James M. Easter, 92, of Bonaparte, died Monday at 12:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Hospital in Fort Madison.

He was born July 20, 1884, in Harrisburg Township of Van Buren County, to Charles and Anna Bell Easter Keck. On Sept. 8, 1920, he married Leta Eahart (Earhart) at Yankton, S.D.

A lifetime resident of the Bonaparte area, he formerly worked for the Rock Island Railroad, the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant at Burlington, the Bonaparte school and the Bonaparte Lumber Company.

Surviving are his widow, of the Donnellson, Iowa, Manor nursing home; two sons, Charles W. of Bonaparte and Robert W. of Whiting, N.J.; three daughters, Mrs. Charles A. Harness of New Lond, Mrs. Raymond Dhority of Moravia and Mrs. Arthur Roberts of Keosauqua; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Harrisburg Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lester Smith officiating. Burial will be in Vale Cemetery.

The body will be taken Wednesday from Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home to the Carl Wilson Home in Bonaparte, where the family will meet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
