J. Crowner Rites Set

John W. Crowner, 81, former resident of the Fairfield Community, died at 2:55 a.m. today at Mercer County Hospital in Aledo, Ill. He had been seriously ill the past two months.

Last rites will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Bartruff officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Members of the family will receive friends at the Weston Behner Funeral Home from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

John W. Crowner was born March 12, 1893, in Van Buren County. He was the son of William and Cora McMullen Crowner. He was married to Ethel E. Anders Dec. 25, 1912. She died June 5, 1968.

Crowner was a retired farmer and spent most of his life in the Fairfield and Glasgow Communities. For the past eight years he had made his home at West Burlington.

Survivors include two daughters and four sons, Mrs. Ruth Young, Taylor Ridge, Ill.; Mrs. Evelyn Beatty, Rockford, Ill; Charles, Burlington; John, Clifford and Everett, all of West Burlington.

Other survivors include 24 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. June Anders and Mrs. Irene Bruey, both of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one son.
