Norma Jean Butner

Norma Jean Butner, 77, of Mount Sterling died at 6:20 p.m. Thursday Oct. 5, 2000, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

A graveside service and burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Lockridge Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Brown officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. Memorials to the an Buren Good Samaritan Center may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at Route 1, Box 152, Mount Sterling 52573.

Mrs. Butner was born July 7, 1923, in Seward, Neb., the daughter of Norman and Myrtle Olson Sipp. She married Donald Butner April 3, 1947, at Bellevue, Neb.

She grew up in Nebraska and western Iowa and lived in many locations both foreign and domestic during her husband's military career. She spent a number of years living in Lockridge and she had lived in Mount Sterling since 1982. She was a seamstress, who also did other needlework.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Darrell Butner of Sidney, Forrest Butner of Modesto, Calif., and William Butner of Lockridge; three daughters, Beth Holtkamp of Wapello, Donna Josephson of Ottumwa and Marian Graber of Lockridge; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Lloyd Butner; and an infant granddaughter.
