JOHN "JACK" BAKER

STOCKPORT - John A. "Jack" Baker, 63, a farmer, died Sunday at 11:15 p.m. at his home southwest of Stockport, after a six-week illness from cancer.

He was born Oct. 4, 1913, at Charleston, Ill., to Sherman and Elsie Baker. In 1928, the family moved to Creston, and he moved to Van Buren County after serving in World War II.

Surviving are his mother, of Creston; three sisters, Margradell Hood of Afton, Pauline Carlson of Creston and Adeline Means of Cromwell; and four brothers, Lawrence of Creston, Donald of Lebanon, Mo., Dale of Milan, Ill., and Walter of Keosauqua.
