STOCKPORT - Mrs. Elizabeth M. Nixon, 72, of Stockport, died today at 4:38 a.m. at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.
She was born May 9, 1904, in Jefferson County to Hugh and Mattie McMullen Carmichael. A resident of the Stockport community most of her life, she was a schoolteacher more than 45 years.
She was a member of the Stockport United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge and American Legion Auxiliary.
On April 26, 1930, she married James Nixon. He died in 1970.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Wayne Miller of Keosauqua; two sons, Larry of Fairfield and James of Stockport; five grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. George Caster of West Milton, Ohio.
The service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Stockport United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery near Stockport.
Visitation will be Saturday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.
