Ottumwa, Iowa, Thursday, October 14, 1976

EDNA R. JOHNSTON

KEOSAUQUA - Mrs. Edna R. Johnston, 86, of Keosauqua, died Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center, where she was the first resident after construction four years ago.

She was born Dec. 8, 1889, near Troy to Volney and Luella Carder Casady. On Oct. 1, 1911, she married Harry B. Johnston. He died in 1938.

Mrs. Johnston lived in Lebanon, Iowa, from the time of her marriage until 1940, when she moved to Keosauqua.

She was librarian many years at the Keosauqua Public Library, and was a member of the Keosauqua United Methodist Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Miriam Downard of Keosauqua; one son, Charles of St. Charles, Mo.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. June Hunter of Venice, Fla., Mrs. Teressa Ehlers of St. Louis and Mrs. Emily Warriner of Okmulgee, Okla.

The service will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Cornish officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery at Milton.

The body is at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.
