Ottumwa, Iowa, Saturday, October 2, 1976

DONALD D. PARSONS

DOUDS - Donald D. Parsons, 54, of Douds, a salesman for a Hadley Chevrolet in Richland, died at 9:45 p.m. Friday at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua. He had suffered a stroke Monday.

The son of Jamie and Eva Hanshaw Parsons, he was born June 29, 1922 south of Douds and lived his entire life in the same neighborhood. On April 12, 1941 he married Frieda Riggs at Memphis, Mo.; she survives.

Parsons is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Eva Parsons of Douds; two daughters, Mrs. Ted Fellows of Edwards, Calif. and Mrs. Carroll Johnston of Douds; a son, Don A. Parsons of Douds and nine grandchildren.

He graduated from Douds High School in 1939, had farmed, and was employed as a car salesman in Keosauqua, Ottumwa and Fairfield prior to his present employment. He was a member of the Bethel Free Methodist Church south of Douds, where the service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery north of Douds. Arrangements are in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home.
