THELMA MITCHELL

KEOSAUQUA - Thelma T. Mitchell, 74, of rural Keosauqua, died Sunday at 7:50 a.m. at the Ottumwa Hospital after an illness of three weeks.

She was born Aug. 1, 1902, at Mount Sterling to William and Annetta Kouns Scotten. She graduated from Southern Iowa Normal school in Bloomfield and taught in rural Van Bure County schools.

On Nov. 12, 1921, she married Ralph Mitchell at Mount Sterling. They farmed in the Mount Sterling-Keosauqua area except for five years in Missouri.

Surviving are her widower; one son, Jack of Keosauqua; three granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and one sister, Ina Boisseau of California.

Mrs. Mitchell was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist church, United Methodist Women and Farm Bureau Women.

The service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Center Chapel United Methodist Church, with the John Cornish officiating. Burial will be in Center Chapel Cemetery.

The body is at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.
