ANDREW GILBERT

DOUDS - Andrew J. Gilbert, 84, of Douds died Sunday at 9:10 a.m. at the Ottumwa Manor, where he had been transferred June 16 from Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

He was born July 8, 1891, at Selma to Daniel and Matilda Redmon Gilbert. A resident of the Douds community most of Starlight Lodge 350 of Knights of Pythias at Douds, and Van Buren Lodge 350 of Odd Fellows at Selma.

On Sept. 17, 1916, he married Blanche Nason. She died in 1935.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Norma Bates of Douds; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Byrum of Ottumwa and Mrs. Edith Plowman of Douds.

The service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. Burial will be in the Leando Cemetery.
