FRED CHAMBERS

BONAPARTE - Fred D. Chambers, 70, of Bonaparte, died Thursday at 3:10 p.m. at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

He was born Jan. 17, 1906, in Keokuk to Fred D. and Dora High Chambers. On April 15, 1930, he married Pearl L. Davis at Aledo, Ill.

A Bonaparte resident 50 years, he was employed at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant at Burlington during World War II. He owned and operated the Snack Shack cafe in Bonaparte, retiring in 1968.

Surviving are his widlow; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Doughart [should be Douthart] of Bonaparte and Mrs. Virginia Doughart [should be Douthart] of Fort Madison; three sons, Glenn of Denmark, Iowa, Fred Jr. of Muscatine and Bill of Bonaparte; one sister, Mrs. Emerson Russell; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughters.

The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Bonaparte Presbyterian Church, with burial in the Bonaparte Cemetery. The Rev. Scott Holmes will officiate.

The body is at the Carl Wilson home in Bonaparte, where visitation will be tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock. Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
