Ottumwa, Iowa, Tuesday, May 11, 1976

LOEFFLER SERVICE

BIRMINGHAM - The funeral for Elza E. Loeffler, 68, of rural Birmingham, who died Monday, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Zion Bible Church east of Douds. The Rev. Walter Shuka will officiate, and burial will be in Kilbourn Cemetery.

The family will be at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds Wednesday from 8 to 9 p.m.

Memorial contributions to the Van Buren Community Athletic Boosters may be left at the funeral home.

Mr. Loeffler was born Nov. 2, 1907, near Trenton to Voyl and Mabel Eschelman Loeffler. He graduated in 1927 from Keosauqua High School where he was active in all athletics.

He had played on the Douds men's baseball team and was a golfer and bowler. He had coached the Keosauqua Giants Little League team and elementary basketball and Babe Ruth baseball at Birmingham and Stockport.

On April 20, 1932, he married Isabel Ewing at Lancaster, Mo. They first lived in Mount Zion, moving 34 years ago to their farm southwest of Birmingham. He was employed 28 years at the Douds Stone quarry as a shovel operator.

Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Norma Ramsey of Keosauqua and Mrs. Janet Smith of Birmingham; one son, Gary of Keosauqua; six grandchildren; three brothers, Isaac, Darrell and Hollis, all of Keosauqua; and one sister, Mrs. Florence Coon of Ottumwa.
