M. Clark Barnett

CANTRIL - M. Clark Barnett, 65, died Sunday at 4:45 p.m. at his farm home southeast of here. He had suffered from a heart condition.

He was born Nov. 13, 1910, in Scotland County, Mo., south of Cantril United Methodist Church.

An active Mason, he had served as master of Apollo Lodge at Cantril and as head of Royal Arch Masons, Royal and Select Masters and Knights Templar, all at Keosauqua. He held the Knight York Cross of honor, distinguished Masonic award.

He was currently serving as secretary of all four Masonic bodies, and also was a past master of Damascus Council in Mount Pleasant, and a member of the Cantril Chapter of Eastern Star and the White Shrine at Fairfield.

On Aug. 11, 1936, he married Mary Jones at Monticello, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Edna Wood of Martelle, Mrs. Mona Schemmel of Farley, and Miss Wava Barnett of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; his mother, of Memphis, Mo.; and one sister, Mrs. Vada Fowler of Carroll.

The body is at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

The service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Cantril United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Herbert DeMello officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Masonic rites will be held.
