HUBERT CHARLES (CHARLIE) JEFFERSON

Word has been received in Keosauqua of the death of a former resident, Hubert Charles (Charlie) Jefferson, 67, of Canton, Missouri. Mr. Jefferson died in Iowa City, July 27, and funeral services were held at the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield, July 30, with burial in Leando Cemetery in Van Buren County.

While in Keosauqua, he worked for the Van Buren Telephone Co., for the Blaskey-Hannam plumbing and heating shop, served as a deputy sheriff and justice of the peace. After leaving Keosauqua, Mr. Jefferson worked for Parsons College in Fairfield, and later was in the construction business in Colorado. In Canton, where he lived at the time of his death, he had his own plumbing business and also worked as a security guard.

He is survived by his widow, Alberta, of Canton; daughter Beverly of Iowa City, and three grandchildren.
