EARL L. CHADER

The service for Earl L. Chader, 68, retired Douds farmer and former minister was held Tuesday, August 5, at 2 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Douds, with the Rev. Donald Strauch and the Rev. Donald Strauch and the Rev. David Pease officiating. Interment was in the Leando Cemetery with arrangements in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home. A memorial has been established for his church.

The son of Rev. C.H. and Anna Berg Chader, he was born September 4, 1906, at Wilsonville, Nebr. His father was a Methodist minister, and the family lived in a number of different locations where he was assigned by the church, including Douds.

Earl attended Iowa Wesleyan College at Mt. Pleasant and the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and served as pastor of several Methodist churches in Iowa.

On August 27, 1933, he was married to Bessie Plowman of Douds in his church at Drakesville. They moved to Douds where he joined in the operation of the Plowman farms. Mrs. Chader died in1969. Two sisters, Mrs. Alpha Wittmer and Mrs. Vera Lewis also preceded him in death.

He was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Douds, which he served as Sunday School Superintendent and in various other offices. He was also a member of Celestial Lodge No. 413, A.F. & A.M.

Remaining to cherish his memory are a daughter, Mrs. Ila June Laughlin and a grandson, Jeff Laughlin, of Fairfield.

He will be remembered as a devoted father and grandfather, a good neighbor and friend, who endeavored daily to live his faith.
