Lelia Davis, aged 9 years, 11 months and 21 days, died at home in this city at noon on Thursday last. Lelia was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Davis, and was a bright, winsome little girl, well beloved by all. She had for some time been very ill with typhoid fever and on the 23d day of the affliction she succumbed to its terrible ravages. She was favorite of her school mates and teachers and, in fact, was loved by all who knew her and on the day of her funeral her school mates and friends were present and laid flowers on her last home. Rev. Collier spoke the final words over the little form, in which the happy laugh of childhood had been stilled and his words were full of consolation to the parents and mourning friends. The pall bearers comprised six of her school friends while her Sunday school class and teacher filled the position of honorary attendants. The floral tributes were very beautiful and many. Miss Mollie Gardner rendered a beautiful solo. Interrment [sic] was made in the cemetery here.
