Leslie E. Cox 70, died at the Fairfield Convalescent Home at 7:15 a.m. [October 9, 1971] after a lengthy illness.
The son of Edward and Pearl Dake Cox, he was born Jan. 10, 1901 in Van Buren County and spent most of his life in farming. He lived in Eldon for five years. He was a member of the Eldon Christian Church and served as an elder for many years.
He married Flossie E. Ossthoek, Sept. 8, 1920 near Kilbourn. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert Clark, of Davenport, and Mrs. Carl Marsh of Kansas City, Kansas; three sons, Wayne, of Keosauqua, Warren of Ottuwma and Willis of Eldon; two brothers, Harold of Columbus, Ohio, and Glenn of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., and 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday [Oct. 12, 1971] at the Eldon Chrisitian Church. The Rev. Earl Manning will officiate. Burial will be at the Kilbourn Cemetery. [Campbell Funeral Home in charge of services].
Leslie's father, Edward Cox was my great uncle; posted for those who might have an interest.
