Iona Ve Blackburn, daughter of Albert and Anna Starr Lazenby, was born December 31, 1902 near Keosauqua and died the morning of Thursday, July 20, 1989 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center, Keosauqua at the age of 86.

Ve lived her entire life in Van Buren County.

On March 3, 1921 she married Hazen Blackburn. They operated a service station and roller rink in Keosauqua and Blackburn Park on the Des Moines River north of Keosauqua. Later Ve was a bookkeeper at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church.

Her husband died in 1978. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Kathryn Griffiths and two brothers, Charles and David Lazenby. Surviving to cherish her memory are nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 22, 1989 at 10 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Rev. Chrisa Ferguson officiating. Interment was in Center Chapel Cemetery south of Keosauqua. A memorial was established for Van Buren Good Samaritan Center.
