Kenneth Weldon Blackburn oldest son of Hugh and Leona Linn Blackburn, was born near Keosauqua, Iowa on April 26, 1921 and departed this life at the Ottumwa Hospital, February 23, 1943 at the age of 21 years, 10 months and 3 days.
Kenneth had lived in this community all of his short life, spending 19 years in his present home. He graduated from the Keosauqua high school in the class of 1939. He always attended Sunday school and church at Center Chapel.
He was united in marriage to Louise Wilson, April 5, 1940. To this union was born one son, Bille [William] Terrel Blackburn.
Kenneth was of a quiet disposition and loved by everybody who knew him. He was a loving husband, father and son, always interested in his home and loved ones.
Those who survive are his wife and son, Billie, his father and mother, one brother, Robert, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Blackburn, Mr. and Mrs. George Linn, also his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wilson, and many other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by an infant brother and a cousin, Merle Blackburn.
His Christian life was a busy, active one. He enjoyed life to its fullest extent and brought much happiness into the lives of others. Kenneth will be sadly missed by his loved ones and his community; a great loss at his passing.
Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon [Feb. 25, 1943] in the Center Chapel church, in charge of Jay N. Waterman of Cantril, and Rev. T. Warren of Keosauqua. Music by Mr. & Mrs. Sam Wolfe. Pallbearers: Vinton Rankin, Stanley Beer, Leonard Regur, Edwin Walker, Lester Matheson, Clarence Kingsbury. Burial in Center Chapel cemetery.
Kenneth's grandmother, Tensa Blackburn is my great aunt; submitted for those who might have an interest.
