Hugh B. Blackburn, son of Walter and Tensa Cox Blackburn, was born September 24, 1899 in Henry Township, Van Buren County, and departed this life early the morning of Sunday, September 4, 1988 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, at the age of 88.

He spent his active life farming in the Center Chapel community southeast of Keosauqua and was a founding member of the Mount Pleasant Old Threshers Association. He was a member of the Center Chapel United Methodist Church.

Hugh married Leona P. Linn who died in 1967. He later married Luch Morrison Blackburn who died in 1974.

Remaining to cherish his memory are a son, Robert and his wife, Helen of Keosauqua, four grandchildren, Richard, James and William Blackburn and Bonnie Lowe, ten great grandchildren, one great great grandson, nieces and nephew, other relatives and friends.

Two sons, Kenneth and Roger and two brothers, Clifford and Hazen preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 6, 1988 at 10:30 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Bob Patterson officiating. Interment was in Center Chapel Cemetery. Memorials were established for Center Chapel Cemetery and Van Buren County Hosptial.
