Wixom service

FARMINGTON - The service for Samuel Ardell Wixom, 63, of Hillsboro, who died Monday, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington.

The Rev. Gary Worsham will officiate, with burial in Greenglade Cemetery.

He was born March 23, 1911, in Farmington to Sam and Cora Swearingen Wixom. An Army veteran of World War II, he was an employe of John Deere at East Moline, Ill., until his retirement in 1974.

He married Peggy Bailey. He then married Margaret Shimkus March 24, 1971. She survives as do four sons, Bill of Minneapolis, Minn., Edward of Fairfield, Darrell of Burlington and Richard of Hillsboro; 25 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his mother, Cora Wixom Crooks of West Branch; and one sister, Elsie Mahoney of West Liberty. He was preceded in death by a son and a brother.
