S.J. Griffitts of Springville, Cal., died at the Burnette Sanitairum at Fresno, Cal., where his wife and brother-in-law had taken him for treatment. The deceased was born in Van Buren County, Iowa, July 27, 1865, being at his death, 46 years, 4 months and 24 days old. He had lived all his life in Iowa until last March when he came to California for his health.

He was married to Pearl A. Langford Jan. 21, 1894. To this union five children were born, Byrdie B., Hilda Violet, Rolla James, Mildred Pearl, and Craig Langford. He leaves to mourn him his wife, five children and one brother, Isaac Griffitts of Melrose, Iowa, beside numerous relatives here in California.

He united with the Christian church at Mt. Sterling, Iowa and always remaind a member of that church. He was a good citizen and a loving husband and father.
