Margaret Wright Craig, wife of David Craig, was born June 18, 1859 on a farm near Center Chapel, Van Buren County, Iowa. After a brief, but severe illness she departed this life at 6 a.m. July 22, 1902, at her late home near Mt. Sterling, being 43 years, 1 month, 4 days old. It was at the Chapel she was converted; in that neighborhood she grew to young womanhood, and there in the beautiful little Center Chapel cemetery she was buried. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.R. Jeffrey, Jr., assisted by Rev. A.C. Boyd at 11 a.m., July 23, 1902.

Mrs. Craig was well known at Keosauqua, and in the neighborhoods of Center Chapel and Mt. Sterling. She had many, many friends. On March 11, 1897, she was united in holy wedlock to her now bereaved and sorrowing husband. She was a good wife, a consistent christian, a cheerful, loving companion and friend. All who knew her, only knew her to love her.

Mrs. Craig was a daughter of our esteemed fellow townsman Christy Wright. Her mother died when she was but eight years of age. She leaves a husband, one step son, Floyd, a father and step mother, one brother, John Wright, who lives on the old homestead, one sister, Mrs. Anna Wyckoff of Camden, N.J., and three half sisters, Alice, Mary and Elizabeth, all of whom were present at the funeral except Mrs. Wyckoff. Not only the relatives but her many friends and acquaintances will miss her birhgt face, and cherry companionship.
