George Henry Baird 1886 - 1964

George Henry Baird, 78 of Kahoka, Missouri, passed away May 30, 1964. He suffered a heart attack while unloading hay on the Harry Stewart farm, near Kahoka. The son of the late Thomas Greenfield and Mary Jane Stockdale Baird, he was born Mar. 3, 1886 at Cantril, Iowa.

He was married to Iva Juanita Murphy, September 25, 1907, who survives. To this union were born five daughters and two sons.

He leaves to mourn his death his widow and the following children: Mrs. Jalina Kemmer of Wyaconda; Mrs. Lillie Ayres of St. Louis; Mrs. Lelah Schultz of Mountain Grove, Mo; Mrs. Georgia Mohr of Farmington, Iowa, Mrs. Mary Schultz of Moline, Ill. and Richard Baird of East Moline, Ill., and Frederick Baird of Keokuk, Iowa, one brother, Orland Baird of Fort Dodge, Ia.; ten grandchilren; ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He joined the Methodist church at North Upton, Ia., at the age of seventeen and later had his membership transferred to the Methodist church in Kahoka. The greater part of his life was spent on a farm. In 1941 he moved to Kahoka and spent the remainder of his life in the trucking business, hauling from farm to market.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Kahoka Methodist church, with the Rev. Robert Hemmerla officiating. Pallbearers were: Robert Bash, Joe Parsons, Lynn Daniel, Jack Stewart, Dave Hoyt and Lewis Schultz. Music was by Mrs. Josephine Fry, Mrs. Phyllis Hutchinson and Clydean Clough. Mrs. Wanda Short was organist. Services were under the direction of Karle-Shaffer Funeral home.

Burial was in Kahoka cemetery.
