Mrs. James R. Burkett
Lelah Clarissia Murphy, daughter of Fred and Jalina Murphy was born near Keosauqua, Iowa, April 2, 1884, being 55 years and 20 days of age. Death came very suddenly after a brief illness, April 22, 1939.

On November 29, 1905, she was united in marriage to James R. Burkett, who with the children and grandchildren mourn their loss of a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother.

Mr. & Mrs. Burkett's home was bless with two children, one son Fred. M. Burkett and a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn J. (Willard) Carruthers, both of Keosauqua. Three grandchildren, Delmar, Larry Burkett and Delores Sue Carruthers. She also leaves one Sister, Mrs. Iva Baird of Arbela, Missouri; three brothers, Charlie Murphy of Pulaski, Iowa; Morris and Ohio Murphy, both of Keosauqua and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Burkett was a woman of the christian faith, a member of the Christian church of Keosauqua, lived a true Christian life, always ready to help friends and neighbors in time of need.

Pallbearers were: Robert Snodgrass, William Zachau, Floyd Wolfe, Herman Linn, Alva Hoskins and John Chafer. Music was by Mrs. Mary Fellows, and Mrs. Pearl Dill, with Mrs. Doris VanHorne, pianist. Burial was in the Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua, Iowa.

Submitted by LuRee Runnells, Lelah was a great aunt, and this Obit. is in an old family scrapbook in my possession for those who might have in interest.
