Anna Elizabeth Rex

Anna Elizabeth Rex, 58, of Bonaparte died at 10:30 p.m. Monday, July 2 at her home near Bonaparte after a lengthy illness. She was born Oct. 14, 1914 at Ft. Madison, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Schroeder Wenke Sr. On June 17, 1936 she married Leonard Rex at Ft. Madison. She had lived in the Bonaparte area for 37 years and was a housewife. She was a member of the Bonaparte Baptist Church, the Van Buren County Historical Society and the Farm Bureau.

She is survived by her husband Leonard of Bonaparte, her mother Mrs. John Wenke Sr. of Ft. Madison; four sons, John Rex of Fulton, Mo., Jim, Joseph and Jay Rex all of Bonaparte; five brothers, John Wenke Jr. and Herman, both of Ft. Madison, Ferdinand and William of Bonaparte, and Henry of Argyle; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Herrick of Keokuk, Mrs. Elizabeth Moore of Montrose, and Mrs. Mary Lewis of Kalona, Ill., and ten grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 5th in the Baptist Church at Bonaparte. The Rev. Gerald Ogden officiated. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery at Ft. Madison. The rosary was recited Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington.
